Marcus Ball's struggle to bring a private prosecution against Prime Minister Boris Johnson for misconduct in a public office has hit another buffer with the Supreme Court rejecting his application for leave to appeal.
Mr Ball's options are: do nothing; apply direct to the Supreme Court; appeal to the European Court, or re-attempt a private prosecution.
Which route will he take?
“My faith in the English legal system was damaged by the decision of the Divisional Court to quash the District Judge’s decision after spending just three days looking at our case. My faith in the ideal that all persons are treated equally under the law has been shattered. “Ultimately, when politicians lie, democracy dies. That is my message and it still is.”
